Report Any Changes in Your Residential Address

The Immigration & Nationality Act (INA ยง 265, 8 U.S.C. 1305) requires all nonimmigrants and permanent residents, including international students, scholars, and their families, to report any change of residential address in the U.S. to the federal government, within 10 days.

Failure to Update Address

Immigration regulations require all visa holders, including dependents, to report a change of U.S. address within 10 days of moving. Failure to update your address may have significant consequences to your immigration status. Criminal Penalties to Noncompliance: Noncompliance is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 or imprisonment for not more than 30 days.

You must report a change of your  U.S. address within 10 days of moving. ISSO will then update your SEVIS record with your current address.

How to Change Address
Step 1.

Log in to Compass with your UNI and password to submit your change of U.S. address

Step 2.

Update your U.S. address in Vergil (students only)

If you are an enrolled student, go to Vergil to update your address in the University's central Student Information System

Step 1.

Report a change of your U.S. address to USCIS via Form AR-11

Report your change of U.S. address to USCIS on Form AR-11within 10 days, every time you move (this is required).

Step 2

Update Your US Address in Compass (CUIMC H-1B Only)

Log in to Compass to update your US address.
