Visa Services in China Disrupted Due to COVID Surge

December 20, 2022

U.S.Embassy & Consulates in China recently posted an alert that due to a surge in COVID cases visa services are currently disrupted. Visa applicants will be contacted if their appointment is impacted, and may reschedule your appointment for a later date. On the visa wait time page for China today it appears that only Chengdu and Guangzhou are closed but this may not be up-to-date and the situation is fluid and may change.

Even if you don’t need to apply for a visa because you have one in your passport that remains valid for your prospective travel dates, local restrictions due to the spread of COVID-19 in China may still affect your travel plans, so please plan accordingly.
