U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the expansion of premium processing for F-1 students applying for Optional Practical Training employment authorization.
Premium Processing requires a separate I-907 application form, by paper or online, with an additional $1,500 fee that guarantees processing of an OPT application within 30 calendar days, which means they will issue an approval notice, a denial notice, a notice of intent to deny, or a request for evidence.
As of March 6, 2023, students with a pending I-765 application for OPT in any category (pre, post, and STEM) can submit an I-907 to request Premium Processing.
Beginning April 3rd, USCIS will accept Form I-907 requests, filed via paper form or online, for F-1 students in the above categories from new applicants when filed together with a Form I-765.
