ISSO Faculty & Researcher Spring Welcome: Liberty Science Center

Are you an international CU faculty member, researcher, postdoc, staff or trainee? Are you looking to meet peers and make new friends across different schools and departments? 

Please join ISSO as we build connections and community at a special start-of-semester social Happy Hour across the river at NJ’s famous Liberty Science Center! ISSO will provide roundtrip transportation via charter bus to/ from the museum's LSC After Dark event, plus venue admission, a planetarium show ticket, and 1 food and 1 drink ticket -- all for the discounted price of $10.00 per person

This is a great opportunity to meet newly arrived international faculty, researchers, and postdocs in a fun, social setting! 

Itinerary:

  • 5:00PM         Meet at 112th St. & Amsterdam Ave. to board the bus
  • 5:20PM         Depart
  • ~6:45PM       Arrive at LSC in Jersey City
  • 7:00PM         Space Talk by Dr. Huei Sears: "Hello, It's Me: Exploring the CMB With Help From Adele" (*optional)
  • 8:30PM        "Echoes of Creation" planetarium show
  • 9:45PM         Reboard the bus (10pm departure)
  • ~11:00PM     Arrive back at Morningside campus

 

This event is part of a series intended to promote organic community building amongst international scholars at all campuses of Columbia University. Due to capacity restrictions, this event is not open to students or to guests. We thank you for your understanding.

Discounted tickets are available to CU international researchers, faculty, postdocs, and staff for only $10.00 per ticket (NON-REFUNDABLE). Tickets include roundtrip transportation, admission, and a ticket to the planetarium show. Alcohol consumption is not required and ISSO encourages participants who do choose to drink to do so responsibly. All participants are responsible for their own food/ beverage purchases.
