ISSO Faculty & Researcher Night Out: Poster House

Are you an international CU faculty member, researcher, postdoc, staff or trainee? Are you looking to meet peers and make new friends across different schools and departments? Join ISSO's monthly evening social event ("night out") to help build connections and community!

 

Join ISSO this month to explore First Friday at Poster House, the first U.S. museum focused on the enormous impact of posters on society and culture, and how they have been adapted to contemporary use. Poster House is a space for those interested in design, advertising, and public interventions, and aims to improve design literacy among the general public. Admission is FREE every Friday! 

 

Itinerary: 

4:00pm: Meet at ISSO Morningside to travel by MTA

4:40pm: Meet outside Poster House to enter, explore, and enjoy the exhibits! 

9:00pm: Museum closes

**Everyone is free to arrive and leave on their own schedule-- please feel empowered to join us later in the evening! All registrants will be sent an invitation to an ISSO WhatsApp group for this event to help coordinate and meet up before, during, and after the event.

 

Optional Activities at the Museum:

  • 5:00pm - 6:00pm: Docent Tour: Dorothy Waugh’s National Park Posters [**FREE but please register in advance]
  • 6:00pm - 7:00pm: "National Parks Posters: Then & Now" [**FREE but please register in advance]

 

This excursion is part of a series intended to promote organic community building amongst international scholars at all campuses of Columbia University. Registration through ISSO is not open to guests. We thank you for your understanding.

Participants are responsible for all costs associated with participation, including but not limited to transportation and any optional food/ beverage. Alcohol consumption is not required and ISSO encourages participants who do choose to drink to do so responsibly.
