Join ISSO this month to make new friends during an evening walking tour of NYC, to learn the history of the first multi-ethnic urban neighborhood in America! Curated by a local guide, the stops on the Gangs of New York tour could include Paradise Square, “Murderer’s Alley,” the African Burial Ground, the lost intersection of Five Points, and sites associated with Bill “the Butcher” Poole, Pierre Toussaint, William M. Tweed, “Master” Juba, and the 1857 police and 1863 draft riots. ISSO is providing tickets to a limited number of CU international scholars for the discounted price of $5.
Itinerary:
- 5:15pm: Meet at ISSO Morningside to travel together by MTA (*optional)
- 5:55pm: Meet at the Southeast corner of Broadway & Chambers Street, at the edge of City Hall Park *Please do not register for this event if there is a chance you will be late
- 6:00 - 8:00pm: Guided walking tour
- After 8:00pm: Option to continue socializing**
**All registrants will be sent an invitation to an ISSO WhatsApp group for this event to help coordinate and meet up before, during, and after the event. ISSO encourages participants to independently organize dinner or other activities after the scheduled itinerary has finished.
