Hi, I am Junlei Yang.

I am the visiting scholar.

Hello. My name is Danielle.

I am the daughter of this greatest mom.

Welcome to the #ISSOstories!

As a visiting scholar from Fudan University Shanghai, China, my program is the Film Studies in Digital Humanities. And I got strong support in Columbia University. It's really amazing.

Before I came here, I knew I could get many resources. I could be supported by CU. The help I got is higher than my imagination, is higher than my expectation. I'm very glad to say that one of my English paper. So that is encouragement for me because I use the resources from Butler Library.

And my daughter, my daughter with me after- after her school, she will go to Butler Library to do her homework everyday.

And for me, I use some resources and I get some new ideas and also to update my horizon and to construct my paper.

So that is really a good experience for me. In the next the year 2025 to be back to my university, that is Fudan University, the same blue, just like the outstanding Columbia University.

We hope it will be a very good relationship and the cooperation together about the teaching in a higher education and the exchange about the academic achievement.

My daughter and I, we love to Central Park. So that is a very famous place. And I bought the membership card of Zoo of New York Zoo at the first day when we arrived in New York City, including Bronx, Aquarium, and the Zoo in Central Park. My favorite is in New York Public Library. I always do some programs here.

Like, we make buttons.

Oh buttons!

I want to be a professor because I want to help more people so they can learn.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Tell us about your experience thus far.

I received amazingly strong support at Columbia University. Before I came here, I knew I could get many resources and that I would be supported by CU. However, the help I’ve received here is higher than my imagination and expectation. I'm very glad to say that one of my English papers has been accepted as well! All of this is so encouraging for me.

Additionally, I love to use the Butler library resources. Even my daughter comes with me after school to do her homework there everyday. There, I use their resources and I get new ideas – it helps to update my horizons when constructing my paper. It has been a really good experience for me. In 2025, I’ll go back to my university, Fudan University (whose school color is the same outstanding blue as Columbia University). We hope it will be a very good relationship between Fudan and Columbia and that we will cooperate together about teaching in higher education and exchanging academic achievement.

The help I’ve received here is higher than my imagination and expectation.

What do you like to do outside of Columbia? Any hobbies? Interests?

My daughter and I love to go to Central Park. I also bought the New York Zoo membership card on the first day when we arrived in New York City. The card grants access to many places including the Bronx Zoo, the Aquarium, and the Central Park Zoo. Furthermore, my daughter’s favorite place is the New York Public Library. We always do programs there (like making buttons). My daughter wants to be a professor because she wants to help more people learn.
