I was particularly taken by this program because it’s one of a kind in terms of preparing mid-level professionals for the tech world. It’s comprehensive, focused and somewhat expedited. The curriculum ranges from Design Thinking to Machine Learning, which makes it genuinely helpful for people who have been in technology management for a while, as well as complete newbies. The exposure students get out of this program plays significant roles in paving the way forward in this fast-paced and competitive industry.

Tell us a bit about your journey to Columbia.

I’m so excited to finally embark on this journey since going to an Ivy League institution was always the goal.

I am a single mother and had to leave my little boy behind with my parents to pursue this dream. The cost has been really high for me, but I’m confident and hopeful that it will be worth it. This platform will take me places and I will be able to give my child the best life he deserves! I truly believe Columbia will help me redeem and elevate myself to a whole new level.

Anything else you’d like to share about your time thus far in NYC or at Columbia?

I arrived in NYC a few weeks ahead of the program to give myself the opportunity to settle down and travel around. I am so glad I had that buffer before the classes started as it cushioned the huge life adjustment. NYC has been vibrant and exciting so far. As for Columbia, it has been an absolute delight. There were so many events planned by the community to welcome students this Fall. I was a little taken aback by how expensive the lifestyle can be here. As an international student, I do wish there were more on-campus job opportunities, as off-campus jobs are not an option during the first year of studies. Some additional income would surely help us out with the steep living costs of NYC.
