Hi I’m Giuseppe Torzi from Italy. I’m graduating with my Masters in Technology Management. Welcome to #ISSOstories.
Tell us about your research or projects at Columbia.
I come from a background in marketing, and I decided to pursue this Master’s to combine the technological side with what I already know in my field. I wanted to deepen my understanding of how technology shapes business and innovation.
I came from a marketing background, and I decided to pursue this master because I want to combine the technological aspect with what I'm doing every day. I wanted to deepen my understanding of how technology is combined with innovation and business. What really strike from the beginning is how the city of New York is open and innovative. Beyond the classroom, there are constantly events and initiatives that allow me to meet people with different backgrounds from all around the world.
What I appreciate most about being at Columbia is the mindset. There is a strong culture of ambition combined with openness. Professors treat you as someone whose idea matters. They challenge you but also listen, and that creates a stimulating environment during the class. Classes are intellectually engaging and connected with the real world. Many discussions continue beyond the classroom and that's inspired me a new way of thinking. I’m also part of TiBA, Technology and Business Association, Columbia Student Club, where I serve as Vice President. We organize events and connect students with professionals in tech industry, creating opportunities to bridge theory and practice. In my free time I enjoy exploring the city and meeting new people. New York has an incredible energy, and the people around me inspire me every day to do more.
"Dreams and imagination. If you had the power to fix one problem in the world, what would it be?” I would focus on reducing the global gap in access to education and technology. At Columbia I see how powerful innovation and knowledge can be. Giving more people access to these resources can completely change their life.
