U.S. Travel Ban expanded to 6 additional countries

On January 31, 2020, by Presidential Proclamation effective February 21, 2020, the Trump administration placed visa and entry restrictions on nationals from (1) Eritrea, (2) Kyrgyzstan, (3) Myanmar, (4) Nigeria, (5) Sudan, and (6) Tanzania. 

NAFSA, the premier professional association for international education, summarizes this this latest Travel Ban below and adds its provisions to the comprehensive description and resources attendant to previous executive orders restricting travel. 

"The new ban (Travel Ban 4.0) ... contains restrictions on immigrants but not on nonimmigrants, so Travel Ban 4.0 will not impact acquisition of nonimmigrant visas like F-1 student, J-1 exchange visitor, H-1B worker, etc., or of admission to the United States in those categories."
