ICE Imposters Target International Students

November 04, 2020

ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is alerting the public to an active scam campaign targeting international students. Individuals are impersonating ICE Agents and specifically targeting international students who have valid status. The scammers  "spoof" a local ICE phone number as their caller ID and tell students that their status is in jeopardy and they can either proceed to a specific ICE location or pay X amount of dollars to solve the issue. ICE warns that the scammers are familiar with immigration lingo and can be very convincing. Don't be fooled! Don't answer the phone, but if you do, don't engage and just hang up.
