Updated Pre-departure Testing Requirements for Air Travelers to the U.S.

December 06, 2021

If you plan to travel internationally, you will need to get a COVID-19 viral test no more than 1 calendar day before you travel by air to the United States, effective December 6, 2021. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight. It applies to all air passengers age 2 or older regardless of citizenship or vaccination status, with limited exceptions. This is a change from the requirement that a test be taken within 3 days before departure that had been in effect since November 8th.

Refer to this CDC infographic for a quick summary of the new pre-departure testing requirements.
